Nutrien

  • Scaled, managed and supported a team of UXers from 8 to 12 in 1 year, with diverse skillset levels: from students to Principal / UX Lead, focused on custom applications for Nutrien employees.

  • Solidified the Design Ops processes by adjusting best practices and conventions to our context, which has helped UXers increase their process efficiency and quality. New UXers are now onboarded with clearer direction in less time, reducing uncertainty and increasing their readiness to provide value through their work and talent.

  • Led the evolution of UI kits and shared component libraries into a multi-product Design System to enable sustainable scaling of high-quality, consistent and accessible UX across applications.

  • Created a UX advocacy and education program, including virtual webinars and open house sessions, to increase familiarity and awareness of the business value of UX. With an average of 30 attendees per session from diverse departments across North America and Latin America, we’ve helped instill a user-centered focus company-wide.

  • Established the UX practice from the ground up, and spearheaded its evolution, as part of the digital transformation program in the company. Leading usability testing and customer feedback in an attainable and safe way, was one of my biggest challenges and most proud moments.

  • Led a UX team that started as a team of 2 and evolved into 5 core UXers in almost 1 year. I continued to enable them to sharpen their critical thinking, problem solving and visual design skills, as their main value added to the digital transformation goals.

  • Steered and championed the shift in organizational culture towards a user-centric mindset by advocating heavily for UXers to be engaged in the product cycle from the Discovery and Strategy phase through QA, to increase product quality and reduce rework.

  • Worked with over 10 clients in diverse industries (from farm auctioning to arts and culture government organizations) on the end-to-end UX Design process, from Discovery and Research to Design and Test.

  • Led and facilitated design thinking workshops and sessions to converge on design decisions in complex development and stakeholder teams with divergent opinions.

  • Created a variety of UX Design deliverables: from proto-personas to comprehensive style guides for web and mobile, to wireframes, mockups and prototypes.

  • Designed and continued to execute a strategy to raise and maintain UX awareness and value among the company spheres (Sales, Business Intelligence, Business Analysis, Mobile App, Information Architecture, etc.)

  • Ongoing coaching to junior design and development coworkers on the practice of UX Design and consultancy as a whole.

Interactive Graphic Designer, Digital Media & Technology

NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology)

  • Introduced and championed UX Design principles and methods throughout the team and leadership.

  • Collaborated with instructors (main clients) to identify pedagogical pain points and needs that our digital objects would solve, through different UX methods like interviews, classroom observations and user testing of digital objects in use.

  • Co-developed a curriculum on foundations of UX Design and delivered it to instructors at a polytechnic institute in Havana, Cuba, through the Canadian International Development Agency and NAIT’s partnership. Curriculum was co-developed in English, and delivered in full by myself, in Spanish.
